Hi Everyone!
I am new to this board as of tonight. I have degenerative disc disease in my lumbar spine. I had surgery on my L5S1 four years ago-a discectomy. It was great and I was pain free for the last few years. Recently my sciatica has been pretty bad down my left leg. Had another MRI done. Doctor said that there is nothing surgery would fix at this time I have started PT and he put me on Neurontin. I am titrating up from 300 mg--1200 mg. I am not on 900. I feelsomewhat better-it has been 2 weeks since I started. I am wondering if this has worked for people and how long it takes to feel the effects? And at what dosage ?
Thanks so much (:

  • I took it for a few months however by the time they got the dosage high enough to help me it started affecting my vision but it started helping with my leg pain within a week of starting it but it seemed like I had to increase my dosage every couple weeks for it to stay working. Hope you have better results, also tried cymbalta but it worsened my depression.

I've been taking it for about 6 months now. My dosage is at 1800mg now. My doctor keeps upping my dosage slowly. I still have the nerve pain, but it's not near like it was before I starting using it. I also am having vision problems. I thought I just needed a checkup at my eye doctor to get stronger glasses. It wasn't until I read the side effects of neurotin, that I figured out it could be from the meds. I just started seeing a new pain doctor, so at my next appointment, I want to ask if I can taper down off of it & try something else? I understand that every drug has side effects. I was on amitryptline & it gave me really bad tremors.
