I had L4-5 fusion in February and just had my 3-month check up with the surgeon. I'm pain free now and walking 3.5 miles per day and feeling good. Muscles in my upper back are achey now that I'm active again but I'm sure they'll settle down soon.
I want to go back into the gym to start rebuilding what physique I had left 18 months ago. The doc said don't vertically load my spine with anything totalling more than 10Kg.
By that, I'm guessing that shoulder pressing, free weight shoulder raises and anything lifting upwards while standing is out.
So, I'm guessing I can start with low weights on:
Lat pull downs.
If anyone has any tips for the above, let me know.
Lastly, I used to do loads of sit ups. If I try them now, it doesn't hurt but I can feel the fusion site not moving. Has anyone had any issues with doing sit-ups post L4-5 fusion?
Usual caveats, I know you're not doctors but would appreciate your experiences.
