Hi I had this op on 23/04/15 and previously a microdyscectomy on my L5 disc in 2008. Recovery after the first op was instantaneous and no sciatic pain in my left leg, this recent op however has left me with continuing numbness and weakness in my left calf and foot. It of tens feels ice cold to touch and I am unable to drive as not enough strength to use the clutch pedal.
I'm having EMG/nerve conduction study next week (electric shock treatment) to see what my sensory nerves are doing. I have been back at work 3 weeks now on a phased return and due to the walking I do in my role my foot often feels hot as opposed to cold, (due to the walking). I've had the go ahead to get back to fitness and this is not strengthening the foot at all either. What could this be as hate not driving as was so independent before. It's making me depressed and hate that I walk with a limp. I often have a dull ache in my left thigh and hip. Any ideas??
