I am new. I need help. My symptoms have worsened and I am not taking it so well. I have no one to talk to about it that understands, how hard it is to handle this pain, and to handle trying to adjust to a wheelchair, when it hurts to even sit up.. The only thing that helps is my medicine, and now I have to go to pain management and apparently in FL they don't want to give you medicine. The thought of this pain with no medicine to dull it brings tears to my eyes. I also need to know of any spinal bifida clinics or specialists FL, I've looked and everything is geared towards children. I was told my condition would get worse, and I just appreciate any advise of help at all

Not sure, but it sounds like you are preparing for, and have not yet seen pain management doctor.

I do not know about Florida, ....but I would try to remain hopeful and see how the appointment goes and what advice from pain management doctor. He may be able to refer you to the specialists that you need.

It will take doctor time to get to know you and your situations. Often times treatments are with trial and try again.
As what works well for one patient, is ineffective for another.
I think knowing that there may be some ups and downs in search of proper treatment, can make it much more tolerable as you and doctor work together to find relief for you.

Sounds like wheelchair is new to you as you stated you are adjusting.
I can understand the difficulty in adjusting to something new in how to better take care of ourselves.
It's difficult to adjust to trying to think a couple of steps ahead as to what you may need with working with wheelchair.
Just curious if you see any physical therapy to help with adjusting to wheel chair?

I have a social worker I found from the town I live in, in Illinois.
Free of charge to me, she has been immensely helpful to me re helping me realize what resources are available to me..that I would not have known otherwise.

For ex: there is help available to ....drive clients to their doctor's office, assist with grocery shopping, light housekeeping and if needed, some meals. There are many other resources, too many to list.

If your town doesn't have such service, maybe reaching out to social worker at local hospital can guide you in the right direction.

I think, it is always good to have new set of eyes on conditions, as you will have with pain management doctor and your specialist.

I wish you all the best! Please keep us posted on how you are doing!
