Herniated Disk SI and Scaroliiliac Sprain

In March 2015 I slipped at work causing my legs to attempt a split but instead of going all the way to the ground I grabbed hold of a near by counter which caused my bottom weight to snatch on my back. I heard a pop at once and lost my breath from this new pain. It took almost 2 months before I was able to see someone{ a orthopedic specialist} who may have known what was going on. During which time I had been forced to go to PT{even though the PT said I needed to have a different treatment} he attempted to do some kind of "restriction table" on me which caused a massive amount of pain in my hip and lower back, he immediately stopped, none of his treatments were helping{he was getting concerned and I was dreading the daily added pain} and we just waited till the insurance allowed me to stop. Nothing worked. The bulge in my back was visible to the naked eye, it hurt to lift anything{and I have a small child -1 year at this time} at times it would feel like someone put battery cables to my spine, or I would become locked in a position. Sex was not an option for me as anything to make me clench {pleasure or not}would cause everything thing to tighten and hurt worse.. After the two month "goat and pony show" with the insurance company I was allowed to see a specialist{orthopedic surgeon}- he sent me right away for a MRI which showed the sprain and the herniated disk. the pain is down dramatically until recently. My last shot was almost 3 months ago, the spot in my back where the bulge was is still swollen and soft- I can not take anything touching it directly still{ including pants, sitting back in a chair, my son hugging my waste line, ect}. I have recently reached out to get in and see the doctor again because I am now getting dizzy spells{ I am not sure if they are linked to this or not which is one of the questions I have for this forum} and the soft spot seems to be getting bigger again causing shooting pain down the left leg again. . so to wrap it up these are my questions

1- has any one else had dizzy spells after/during herniated disks?
2- does the bulge come and go, and do you still have a soft spot?

procedures done:
1 only have had two shots in my spinal column- nothing removed, or added.

I am currently not on any, I am a nursing mom and have not used any {aside from Tylenol and much need bed rest}

**I hope I entered in everything correctly

  • Hi. I'll add my answers, even though your situation is different from mine. (BTW, I hope you're spoiling your little one. My son just turned 1, and he is such a good baby.)

    Question 1: After my herniation from lifting, my back became very stiff. It was difficult to bend down or turn. I could barely tie my shoes. I didn't have any dizziness. During the herniation, though, I think I saw stars and temporarily lost my breath.

    Question 2: I didn't have any visible bulging or soft spot. On MRI, you can see the bulging disc, but the skin itself never became swollen.

    That's all. I hope you find the answers you're looking for.
