hi all i have been having pain in my lower back and right thigh since december, had an mri,and it shows buging discs worse one at l5si,from last week the pain in my leg has been spreading down the front off my leg although funny enough my back pain has not been as sore, any ideas anyone

  • Hi Benji,

Sorry to hear your in pain. Sounds like a nerve acting up from S1 area from my experience. Do you have foot drop, is the pain constant?

Many therapies can help this from medication, physical therapy, injections and depending on how bad surgery. Please let your doctor know so they can dx what is the cause and treatment. No one should live in pain.

Let us know how you doing.
  • no foot drop, the pain is constant in my thigh pain in lower leg comes and goes,im on lyrica which normaly controls the pain but isn t helping at this time im arrange 2 c my doc on monday
    thanks for the help
  • last night i had pins and neddles in my right leg for hours with some numbness, any idea what this means
  • Benji- call your doctor and let him know whats going on. He may want to order a new MRI. Your bulge may have herniated more thus causing the new problems. Remember sneazing and coughing can cause a simple bulge to grow.

Many of us get pins and needles as well as many other strange sensations.

    Good luck,

  • thanks julie i have an appointment on monday, the funny thing is the pain in my back has got easier
  • Pins and needles like sensation along with numbness are a sign of irritated nerve.Good thing you're seeing a doc on Mon.
    Good luck to you.

  • Hi , I am glad you are seeing a doctor too. In ,my experience the back pain went (or at least i didnt notice it as much) when the sciatic pain kicked in. THose pins and needles and numbness are definitely urgent to be looked at and assessed.

I hope it heals up quickly for you without too much trouble. Let us know how you go
  • Hi there, I'm after some advice. I had my first lumbar discectomy in 2005 then then 2nd one April 2008 L5/S1. I've not done anything to cause it bujt my leg started again 2weeks ago, its absolute agony only relief i get is when i put my leg up on the bed! om now on tramodol solpodol naproxen and amitriptyline just before bed time. I've been told that specialist had said no more need for surgery and that i've got to wait until i have my appointment at the pain clinic where they may want to inject me in the spine with something. I'm worried its all down to costs, last time they did an MRI straight away, i'm also worried that this injection will only be like putting a plaster over the problem rather than dealing with it? help?? thanks
  • welcome fionaj to the forum! :H we are here to offer you support and answer what questions we can. if you have the name of the injection you can look it up here on the forum and atleast get some information on it.. there are injections that are not just "Quick Fixes," but that do help repair and heal...talk to your doctor and let him guide you through the procedure.. that is why it would be helpful to know what the procedure is.. lots of things do come down to money, i am on medi-cal, so i know!!! but not all!! good luck to you and stop by anytime.. be sure and ask any questions of your doctor till you are completely satisfied.. Jenny :)
