My daighter was just diagnosed with JDDD last Friday at age 16. She has been a gymnast since age 8 and been competetive since age 9. We thought she had a stress fracture and were so worried about it being that, now we wish it was as simple as that. This is very overwhelming and we are just now learning what we are dealing with. The orthopedic doctor we saw was very upbeat and positive and actually supported her remaining in the sport as long as she has physical therapy and the pain is limited. Any thoughts? As mom, my first thougts were to stop immediately and never do anything to stress her back again. I'm so worried about her future
We are starting physical therapy today and her high school gymnastic season starts today, she was voted captain as a sophomore this year - why is life so cruel at times? I know it could always be much worse, but at the moment, this is a tough one to take. Sorry to vent, but I was hoping this might be a place people would understand.
