Microdiscectomy and % of disc removal

I had a microdiscectomy surgery last month (l5 s1) and my surgeon said I had a moderately large herniation. He also said that 25% of the disc was removed. Just wondering if anyone else here knows how much is typically removed for this surgery and does that correlate with the recovery time?My lower back still gets a bit stiff if I don't exercise and I sometimes still have a little pain in lower back/buttock area. My nerves feel like they are wanting to heal because I have a "mores code" happening on my foot. You can actually see it sometimes.

  • I had 80% removed from l4-5 & l5-s1. You will need to stretch and strengthen, you know the drill ;)
I was luck to have a pool where I used to live at the time and swimming really helped the healing process
