Facet medial branch block

Yesterday I had a left lumbar facet medial branch block. I've had good success with facet joint injections in the past so my PM doc suggested this diagnostic before doing a radiofrequency ablation.

I did not get any relief in the 4 to 6 hours after the block as was expected. I only felt that half of my left leg was numb and difficult to lift!

My question is: why do the facet joint injections provide pain relief but not the medial branch block?

Thanks for any input.
