A little background information first.... I injured my back in October of 2013. I went through months of PT multiple injectionsfor nearly a year before I found a surgeon willing to do a micro dicsectomy and lamenectomy of L4-5 in September of 2014. I continued to have issues with pain but my leg symptoms went away for about 3 months. Then the pain and other symptoms came back worse then before. I went through a trial for a SCS and on April 19, 2015 I had it placed at T9 as well as a foraminectomy. I continued to have severe pain in my lower back and developed numbness in my right hip and groin. I went through several more months of PT and injections. I had an EMG done of my right leg and it was determined that I had a pinched femoral nerve, I had a nerve block and while that pain was relieved the numbness continued. My back pain coninues to get worse and I am now experienceing pins and needles as well as numbness that comes and goes.
I had a CT Myelogram in October which shows that I still have a herniation at L4-5 but apparently no severe nerve compression. Because of this and the basis that my first surgery didn't provide significant positive results my surgeon wants me to continue with PT (that does not work, even aqua therapy), more failed injections, and give acupuncture or chriopracitor a try. I dint think either of these is covered by my insurance and quite frankly I am scared of going to a chiropractor
Does anyone have any advice or should I just try to find another dr who will do the surgery. I'm at a total loss as to what to do
