I wonder how other people can withstand such great pain...I'm unable to walk more than 20meters without help, because of the pain in the lumbar spine and the weaknes of my legs(weaknes with pain).Besides the pain that I have to bear, for about four months I began to have pain in the cervical spine, pain wich growing by the day.I have an appointment to be seen by a surgeon just in 31December.My question is how do you folks get over the pain and inability to walk? How is your life? Why is need to go through sooo much pain before being helped? Why are you considered an emergency only when you shit or piss in pants,or just when it might be too late and you has serious repercussions and your life is destroyed? How are you going for a walk,I should rent a walker or something. Thanks for the patience to read this, and I hope to get some answers from you.Thank you

....how frustrated you are and I truly know the feeling!
It is difficult to endure pain daily! And often times to endure the aloneness we find ourselves in.

Doctors, treatments, meds, etc....can only do so much.
Not sure if you are familiar with the post, ...The Blend. You can find with search on this site, upper right on page.
There are suggestions to help distract the painful situations and can be tweaked to our own personality and likes.

Somehow, I needed to come to terms with myself still being in control through the pain...despite my emotions and pain just wearing me out.
I'm certainly not saying it's without a struggle or easily occurs.
But for me, I realized I had/have no choice.

I remember one of my way older posts when newer here, ..talking about, " And now I'm using a cane!"
It was SO disappointing to me, but soon after expressing my distress here, I realized, "Wow! This cane is a godsend"
I sure don't know how it works, but my pain so lessened while using it! I still use it.
And the actual physical relief of sharing my concerns here at SH has been, and still is, good medicine for me :)

I've never been a candidate for surgery. In a way, that may have made it easier for me to accept my situation, as I didn't have those kind of decisions to make.
So, I decided to be the best caregiver of myself for the chronic, ever changing and additional pain...and accompanying symptoms.

It sounds good you have been referred to surgical consult.
Hopefully, he will be able to guide you to lessening of your painful situation.

You may find it beneficial to use SH search to find posts for preparing for surgical and or doctors appointments.
The ideas that are shared there may help you better prepare, you may come up with questions you've not yet thought of..and in the hopes for good and smooth communication between the two of you for most effective treatment.

I look forward to reading what doctor has to say after your appointment....wishing for the very best!

I'm glad you posted! Sharing here with others who truly understand what you are going through, can be very helpful.
    You're not alone!

I saw the specialist doctor about my pain in neck and hands. It was the same doctor who did the steroids injection in my lumbar spine. After that injection made two months ago,my life change.I do not want go blame, but the pain and incapacity to work drives me crazy. The result of XR says in conclusion "Report abnormal make an appointment to see doctor".I do not get many of their medical terms, but I can read the end...I think the doctor was not in a good mood, not even have open the computer. He listened to my symptoms very listless and his conclusion was"Chronic pain disorder"and he recommended a book to read.Surely is not this my problem. My goal is to get well soon as possible and get back to work!I have to ask a second oppinion ...Now my big worry and distress are from sciatica. The pain is incredibble sometime..The down side is that it was suppose to see a surgeon in 26 nov.,than I was recheduled in 31 dec.and today I receved a letter again jn wich is state that I was again recheduled in 14 ian. This is sooo crazy!I must to manage to live with 75 pounds/w and in so much pain for another50 day and maby few more after, and they asked me why I am stressed...
