Inflamation cause gum pain?

For the last several months my health is declining and about three weeks ago my gums have started to ache, along with the side of my neck throbbing. It is like I have a serious case of the flu for several months now just feel lousy.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this gum thing and been told it was from inflammation. I am waiting for blood tests results to see if my inflammation is up among other possible issues.
I don't have dental issues that I am aware of so I am thinking it is from something else but I did make an apt. with my dentist just to rule
dental issues out.
Appreciate your in-put
Thanks Sherrie
