Length of pain during recovery

I am now 6 weeks post op from fusion on L1-5 and S1-2.
I have been on Norco and Rabaxen since my release from Cedars October 30.
I have extended my hours of taking my meds from every 4 to every six.
From reading other posts, I'm beginning to feel that perhaps I'm not recovering 'pain wise' as quickly as others. Is it within normal limits to still be experiencing pain, after the Effects of Norco have worn off?
I've emailed my surgeon and he said I could try easing off the Norco by replacing it with Tylenol. This is because of the constipation which started in about 2 1/2 weeks ago!.
Thankfully I've started enjoying food again and am attempting to stay 'regular' through the use of 1''stool softener' every other day, and eating a prune or two every couple of days. Before surgery and Norco. This had never been an issue!!

I've had 2 lumbar fusion surgeries.... after the first surgery I didn't take any meds beyond the first couple of days. For the second surgery (same surgeon) I was on Oxcodone for 4 months before the nerve pain finally went away.
