What kind of testing have you had done?
How do your pain levels respond to the medication? Does it help at all?...any percentage?

I take daily prescribed pain meds that my PM Doctor alternates every year or year and half.
He said he doesn't want the meds to become ineffective with built up tolerance, as I may have few more decades of keeping pain under control.
So far it's been OxyContin alternating with fentynal patches for the pain.

From the beginning my PM doctor told me it will only take the edge off..and it does.
One of my most helpful test was the EMG which indicated additional areas of my spine effected.

He has never told me my issues are not that serious. I would find that disheartening.
My PM doctor has helped me in understanding and controlling my pain.

If my PM doctor continued to, seemingly, minimize the pain I live daily, I would have to consider another spine specialist for another opinion.
I would also think that being more aware of cause of pain would lead to better management of it.

    Please keep us posted.
