IM A 27 YEAR OLD MALE. I HAVE BEEN BOTH OVER WEIGHT AND IN GREAT SHAPE IN MY LIFE. IN MY PRIME I WAS A WEIGHT LIFTER AND IN MY HEAVY YEARS, I STILL HAD FULL FLEXIBILITY. YEARS BACK HURT MYSELF LIFTING A HEAVY OBJECT INTO A TRUCK. SOON AFTER I MADE IT WORST BY JUMPING TO MY FEET FROM A DECENT HEIGHT. SINCE THEN ITS BEEN HELL. I IMMEDIATELY LOST 80% OF MY FLEXIBILITY. I BECOME DEPRESSED AND OVERWEIGHT ONCE AGAIN, ONLY MAKING IT WORST. WITH HIGH HOPES I PUSHED MYSELF TO LOSE 100 POUNDS THINKING THAT WOULD FIX IT..... NOPE. LOOKED GOOD, BUT STILL COULD NOT BEND OR STRETCH. SEVERE PAIN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BEND DOWN. LOWER BACK AND REAR LEG MUSCLES ARE FROZEN, UNWILLING TO STRETCH. ANY ATTEMPT ONLY MAKES IT WORST I FEEL. I HAD AN MRI DONE. IM NOT A DOCTOR BUT ILL TRY TO EXPLAIN THE FINDINGS. LOWEST DISC ISNT GETTING HYDRATED. ONE ABOVE IS BULGING AND ANOTHER ABOVE HAS A MICRO TEAR. I AM IN A SEVERE LOW. MY DUTY AS A FATHER AND HUSBAND CAN NOT BE ACHIEVED. I GAINED BACK ALMOST ALL MY WEIGHT LOST OUT OF PURE DEPRESSION AND A LACK OF MOTIVATION. IVE GIVEN UP. IVE DONE ALL THE ICE HEAT TREATMENTS, SEEN A CHIROPRACTOR , NOTHING HELPS. IM FEARFUL OF SURGERY ; LAST OPTION I FEEL. PLEASE FORGIVE MY RANT, BUT IM DESPERATE FOR HELP AND ADVISE. I NEED TO KNOW I CAN OVERCOME THIS AND BE THE PERSON I ONCE WAS.-----WILLIAM

Please do not type in caps as on a forum it is regarded as shouting, members see it as rude and some will not bother reading, it also makes it harder to read

  • I know the struggle well. Once your mind is in the rut it's hard to scrape out. Then any pain just really throws a cog into the works.
You can find others here.... we get it so that helps.
I wish I would have thanked my spouse and treated him better as he had to be dad, mum and essentially us. Thank your spouse. Don't moan on to them. Tell them but move on. Have a positive outlook in your words. Read inspirational quotes and get your head into this space. You're young and your life will not always be like this as nothing is static. I've had some hard rehab... I do what I can when my body allows. I couldn't move my leg for 6 months (basically I dragged it) My spine was operated on and I reached new lows but now I've reached new highs and have a new lease on life. The secret is to slowly make baby improvements. Get a good team of doctors to help you and do the rest yourself. You can do this! I was told that I wouldn't walk again. I was told by so many people the same thing. Your odds are low. They move you through the system. If you need surgery then move through that process. I don't know your medical diagnosis but since what's happening isn't working for your life quality then you need to change it up. Yes, despite the pain.
You were a body builder and had to carry alot of weight gain and loss but you're still walking. You have hope in your heart and belly. You came here and posted.
You could try pretending you're 30 and looking back at your 27 year old self and be 100 pounds lighter and 100 percent better. Why settle for less? .
Imagine what you can do with a fit spine. I know what I'd be doing in my 20's with a good spine.
I hope for you William. Look at your wife and kids. Don't look back. Look forward.
  • Thanks for that.. i should be more positive.. At times im still a selfish young man, and need a reminder that my life consist of 3 people, not just my own.
