    Hi Flutterbug,
I don't know much about a bone scan. But I hope you have a specialist to read it. A neuro or orthopedic back specialist. Be sure to write down all of your symptoms and questions. Please don't worry ahead of time. Get all the tests done and questions answered first.
    Good luck, Jim

  • :) i was so grateful when my doctor suggested a bone scan. it showed up large areas of inflammation on my left hip and in my lower back. the exact areas i had been crying about. it gave the doctor the confirmation he needed to increase my pain meds. i have the knowledge that there really is something wrong and iam not nuts!!! hope you find out from your DOCTOR just what you need to know. good luck! Jenny :)
  • this is a great tool! i had been telling my RA dr that my spine is killing me and all i would get from him was "RA doesnt attack your spine!" my opinion is SO WHAT!! something is making it hurt. well my whole spine lit up too along with every joint in my body except my elbows and the report reads that i have degeneration thru out my whole body (total spine included) everywhere EXCEPT my elbows!! if nothing else it felt great just to have confirmation that i was right! so i have been diagnosed with DDD and DJD along with RA, scoliosis, 2 hemangioma's on my spine, bulging disk in L5/S1 with the same area having dehydration (weird huh?), and extreme lordosis. and that's not counting having cyst between and in my bones and joint in my hands and feet. so i feel i have lots of good reasons to explain my pain and just a note--- i fired that RA dr that said that RA doesnt attack your spine!! just on the principal that he wouldnt listen to me and i was in agony! hope that by hearing what i went thru might help you in any way just so you know you arent alone at least.

    all the best,

  • flutterbug- I hope you got some results and answers. I had a bone scan many years ago and it was not ever repeated.
I don't think my bone scan showed too much then but that was before I had surgery. I think I'll ask my dr about the bone scan in general. jade
