I am 8 months post op microdiscectomy and decompression L5/S1 Left side and have pins & needles in my foot - top of the foot is hypersensitive.
Also slight numbness at the back of my leg below the knee (left side)
I am noticing it more i think as most of my pain has gone.
When i last saw the surgeon (at 3 months) he said all was normal and improving, sam to see him again in a month.
I am 63 years old (almost 64)
Is this length of time post op normal to be still in discomfort.
I was on gabapentin 300mg x 3 times per day but due to side effects i have reduced it with the doctors help to 100mg x 2 times per day.
I can't remember the gabapentin helping the numbness and pins and needles but i was in a lot of pain after the operation and it did help reduce the pain.
I still go to physio and walk a mile per day, when the weather is not too bad, i also use a cycle machine at home once a day for 20 minutes - I do have to use a stick as the left side feels weak.
Any advice would be most welcome
