anyone else have foot and lower leg pain?

My feet and lower legs are very painful when I wake up. Can hardly walk. I have Foraminal stenosis in C5-6 and C6-7. Have bad pain and numbness in my arms and hands, but my feet?
Anyone else have pain in feet and legs with this type of stenosis?

Hi Mir

Yes I have that going on as well. Not sure if mine is related to my cervical spine or something else. Actually since i suffer from myelopathy I had a bone scan done today as my legs are just getting weaker. The bone scan was ordered by my doc for another condition but to rule out other things as well. I know there is another member here who is having horrible issues right now with that and is seeing their doc tomorrow about it as well. I take it you have not had surgery yet? What does your doctor say about the leg and foot? Always make sure you tell your doctor all your symptoms as it helps them to treat all of you. How long ago were you diagnosed with the stenosis? What type of treatments are you trying? Certain medicines can also cause muscle pain as well. Check all the prescriptions you are taking. One thing i like to do is track my pain in journal so I can see if it is anything I'm doing that could bringing up certain pains. I also share this information with my doctor as well. I do hope you get some relief from that soon.

Yup, Me too

Hello there and welcome.

Odd you should make this post. I have bulging discs at C5-C7 with bone spurs. I only used to get arm pain, and hand pins and needles. But the last few weeks, when I wake, my feet/ankles and lower legs feel very stiff and painful, and yes, I stagger to the bathroom in a lot of pain. Normally goes off after about an hour or so. I wondered how the legs could be anything to do with the neck.......and I also wondered if it wsa the meds (Neurotin and Buprenorphine patches)??

I see my doctor early next week and will ask.......along with a list of other stuff, like balance problems. I will keep you posted, so keep on eye on this thread.

Sorry I don't have an answer as such, but I'm hoping to real soon !

answer to my leg & foot pain today

I just came from my GP and he said stiffness and bad pain in feet, lower legs, and hands are caused by arthritis related to Chrohn's Disease which I have had for many years. It was that surgery in which I contracted MRSA (antibiotic resistant staph). Not related to my cervical problems, just causes more problems with hands. Will see rheumatologist soon. Now on prednisone (which I hate.) I've not had spinal surgery because of MRSA in my body. It often comes back and I am afraid of the spinal canal and brain being infected. Thanks for your input and good luck. Journal is a great idea!

foot and lower leg pain

My hands doing same thing and the relief is not coming after a few hours as it did. Learned today it is probably arthritis related to Crohn's Disease. You may have some arthritis going on too-not at all nice, but better that added problems with you cervical issues. Should check that out. Spoke to someone taking Neurontin & had to quit because it affected her balance so badly. Could be that.

Leg and foot pain

I had DDD with herniated disc at C5-6. Now post-op ACDF C5,6,7 two weeks. I asked every neurologist (I work in a hospital) about leg pain, and they said it was very common, in fact, many of their patients who presented with leg pain actually had cervical spine problems. Despite Neurontin for left arm "zingers," right calf pain became worse over time, usually abated for a few minutes with walking a short distance. Heat to my calf helped. When I look back, I had been treated for Morton's neuroma in my right foot and the right leg pain became proportionate to the left arm symptoms.
All of these symptoms are gone post-op, thank goodness & I am walking 2 miles a day.

had it

I had a 3level fusion c4-7.My leg pain went away the day of the surgery. But absolutely i had pain in all four extremeties for six years, very bad pain.I was on neurotin for four years which helped some of the pain but not all of it.When i woke up after my surgery the nerve pain in my legs and hips was gone,it felt so good not to have pain there i just wanted to cry i was so relieved.I also have muscle weakness all over my body and am now in therapy to strengthen them. Now i have muscle pain in my legs and arms but at least i know its from the muscles working hard not from the compression on my spinal cord.
