Good shoes for a pain in the neck?

I figured I'd ask the experts here:

Do any of you have shoes that absorb shock and minimize your neck pain during the day? Right now walking feels so jarring, and my neck gets stiffer in response, trying to minimize further damage.

I've looked at some shoes online, but I was wondering if there were any specifically designed for neck pain, or that you've had good experiences with.

Thanks!

I have all kinds of spinal problems (see my signature below) and just recently found shoes that are like walking on a marshmallow Angel . They are called SAS. They are made in Texas. I cannot wear heels anymore due to leg, back, and neck pain. The SAS shoes are very sytlish, come in sandals and flats. They are not cheap, the sandals I bought were $120.00, but they are worth every penny. There was another post on here recently, might have been in the lower back pain link, or chronic pain link. If you go up to the search box and enter comfortable shoes, it should locate the posts. Good luck. I will be buying a pair of loafers this fall. These shoes are probably going to become my primary shoe, like Isononter are the only slippers I can wear. I just remembered one of the other brands mentioned, Naot. but I don't have any experience with them personally.

Not attractive shoes but....

Crocs. I live in them. They do have some real cute sandals but for work I wear the shoe. If I was ever told I could not wear them to work anymore I dont know what I would do.

If you don't mind my asking, why 5 cervical surgeries in 10 years? I'm scheduled to go in Monday, and that is not a comforting thought! Hope you are doing well now! Hugs, Karen

Hi Karen

It all started with c345 fusion that from the start was a failure. Broken bone plug. So went in for a redo. that lasted about a year and the stress from the above fusion caused 5 thru 7 to herniate. Back to surgery again for fusion. Ive had the worst luck when it comes to my neck. the last 2 surgeries were because of broken screws and the hardware backing out against my esophagus causing the surgeon to fear that puncture of my esophagus was soon to happen. He decided on that surgery to break away all the old fusion, remove plate and screws and redo everything from c3 thru c7. He even used stem cells for the hope of a proper fusion. Everything was going good on recovery and had even went back to work. I was sitting at my desk and felt my neck drop. I dont know how else to describe that feeling other then it felt like my neck collapsed. Which to my horror it did. So back into surgery again this time posterior with rods, plates, screws and wire. I am finally fused correctly. After all the surgeries I would think so. Lol. please dont let my story scare you, my disc were so diseased that my surgeon stated to me it was as if I had 90 year old disc.

sneakers

I no longer wear heals, only flats. Sneakers are the best for me or my favorite brand is Keen.

Comfort is shoes like walking on a cloud!

I like SAS too. I have had to budget to get them, but they are great, and at the store I go to, they took their time with me, fitted me properly, and knew why (my Neck) that I was looking for something special.

I stood on my feet at work for over 30 years in the OR, and in there I wore Klogs, they have great cushioning, come in lots of colors and styles, I have purple Grin ,and they are the only shoe I wore at work for the last 15 years. Now they are an everyday shoe for me.

I hope this helps. Nowdays you can at least look online to see if these brands would even interest you. I have always ordered my Klogs online. But I had tried a co-workers once for a shift, and became a believer.

as far as shoes go

My NS said that crocs r the worse thing in the world of spines ever created. I did find some shoes at walmart for 10 dollars that are made by Danskin called toners. easy slip on and off feel real good when walking.
