L4/L5 discetomy and decompression- right

Six weeks after operation and I'm still in so much pain.? Back just about ok but bending down to put things in the dishwasher or shaving is a nightmare, but I can cope with this. It's my legs I'm worried about..?, before operation I was on tramodol which I stopped taking due to headaches/sickness. Just took nerve drug Amitripyline 50 mg at 8 pm, 14 mg of zopliclone (sleepers at night) and had a good eight hours sleep. After 3 weeks post operation went down to 25mg of amitripyline...after a few days I was in so much pain between legs, down legs and feet I went into shock. Back on 50 mg, 6 weeks post op and still in losts of pain..Why..? Walking for about a hour and I feel sick with pain. I have electric shocks going in my penis and down my feet, I had none of this before op. The only thing that has improved is my motor fuctions so my right leg/foot does not shake when I walk and I'm of crutches. What's going on with legs?..seeing surgeon soon and I'm hoping I've re hernaited..? due to go back to work in two weeks or on half pay..? Gp says there is something wrong..?stretching, moving around but nad no physio which is booked in 2 months after op....why so long..!

Hi Pursey and Welcome

I'm sorry you're having so much pain. Are you using heat to help? I hope they find the source of your pain. I wonder why the GP dosen't order a MRI or is that left to the surgeon? I hope you get something for the pain. Take care. Charry

oohh

I am so with you. The post surgical infalmmatory rsponse can be a 2-3 week flare thing but 6 weeks and sounds like you are getting worse.

As you mention your privates, perhaps you should seek doctor attention quickly, especially since this is a new symptom.

Hi

Pregabalin(Lyrica) I take it and it's helped my leg pain sciatica and tingling and numbness. Also I've had 3 epidurals from pain management Dr. which has helped alot! I hopefully won't have to have surgery but Orthosurgeon appt is end of January so i'll have to see. Be painfree soon. Charry
