2 weeks post op L3-L4 spinal fusion

Hello to all that is reading this. I just wanted to say that I am doing very well after my surgery. When I first found out that I was going to have a spinal fusion, I was devastated, and had no where to go, and no one to talk to. Then I found this website. Everyone that I have met has been so nice and educated me through the whole process. As I am still healing, I am doing great. The pain is somewhat a bother, but I do have to take the pain meds throughout the day to get me through, as with any surgery. I went to my post op checkup with the dr, and I had asked him about PT, and he told me it is too early yet to start that, so I think I am going to be a slow healer. He also told me that my bones are soft. I am walking everyday, not very far or much, but that will come in time. It does help with the pain sometimes.

I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I am excited that I am going to be pain free after I heal, because I was dealing with a torn and bulging disc, along with a pinched nerve that I did not know about as well. I already feel great some days, but other days, not so good. But you will have those. One reason why I posted this, is to let everyone out there know that if you are facing surgery with your spine, make sure you do your homework on your DR. Also, you do not hear many good stories from spinal fusions either. I got very lucky, as my chiropractor referred me to my spine dr. And yes I am glad that I did do this, because I have my life to live and I am not or was not going to be stuck in a situation where I was always going to be in pain. If you have questions, or just want to comment, feel free to, and I will be glad to share my story. I am not totally healed yet, but I believe every day gets a little better. I am just so happy that I had to share, have a blessed day!
