  • I bought a 3' firm roller which I use at home which I like.  The one problem I have with it is I have had 3 carpal tunnel release surgeries so I have to lean on my forearm to roll across it.  My therapist is confident I will improve as I have never had any of these types of problems in the past.  Was also told I have a very healthy back for 52 year old female.  I am going to keep the faith and keep doing my stretches.  I also use a large exercise ball.  Sit on chair with ball btwn my legs and roll it out w/fingers until I feel the pull in my back and hip area then do the same diagonally on both sides.  Gives a nice stretch w/o so much pain.  I find the most uncomfortable exercise is the "sciatic flossing" but that is just me.

  • I found PT sometimes useful. I have developed sciatic pain that feels like electric shock recently and was prescribed gabepentin. It stops the pain, but I don't want to be dependent on drugs for the rest of my life, so I researched the problem on the internet and found piriformis stretches helps my condition, but does not prevent it totally. When I feel sciatic pain is ramping up, I assume the pigeon pose and the pain stops instantly. I also feel spasm from my hip down to the bottom of my foot, but they are not painful.
