Cervical Spondylosis caused by Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease?

Hello All,

Does anyone know if Cervical Spondylosis is caused or exasperated by Lumbar Degenerative Disc Disease?

    hi lbadge

welcome to the forum!  this is a great question also to ask your health care professional.  from my understanding of the spine from my issues ddd in the lumbar spine likely wouldn't cause cervical issues-but if the saggital balance of the spine is off it can cause curving of the spine in other regions-but most likely the thoracic region in compensation.  with that said however, if one is predisposed to arthritis and has ddd and arthritis in one area of the spine they are likely to have other areas affected in the future.  my surgeon has already told me that because of my arthritis destroying my facet joints in my lumbar spine necessitating a long fusion, i will likely have arthritis issues in my neck as well....not because of my lumbar spine, but because i have arthritis.
    hope this helps.....
