Hello, I came across an old post of yours. You had mentioned you had issues with your c spine. I am hoping you can offer me feedback. For 4 months I have had migratory odd pains that jump around my body, and my feet will buzz on and off, for the past 1.5 months I have had non stop muscle twitches everywhere. I had loads of blood work, EMG, MRI of head and full spine. Well just got C spine mri back and I guess I have a cracked disc pushing onto c 4/5...it reads that its a central protrusion, annular fissur resulting in a milder to moderate stenosis w contact and distortion of the surface of my cord.

In your opinion, could this be the cause of my issues? I dont see a NS for feedback till Nov. I have been so worried I have MS or something and just now got these results.

  • I see that you recently joined spine-health. I'd like to say welcome here, and I hope you will find lots of information.

You really need to discuss all of these issues with your doctor for a diagnosis or advice. I will tell you some of what I've learned based on my experiences, if that will help. My problems originate from my cervical spine, but I have a whole array of symptoms, including some twitching and buzzing like you describe. The buzzing is almost like a cat purring. I do not have MS, so hopefully that will reassure you until you have a chance to meet with your NS. Once there is cord involvement, the legs and feet can be affected. However, there are so many different symptoms that come along with spine problems that it is difficult to say what is or is not normal. I would suggest that you just try to stay calm and not worry until you see the doctor again. Hopefully the MRI will give your doctor enough information that he help you. One other thing I have learned is not to put too much credence in the radiology report. Your doctor will want to review the films and determine if he feels the protrusion is significant enough to cause your symptoms or not. Good luck to you, and please browse through the different articles on this site.
Surviving chronic pain one day at a time, praying for a reprieve because living another 40 years like this doesn't sound too fun!

  • Thanks for your responses. I dont see the NS till Nov! I am confused because my primary dr thinks this is a huge deal, and my neuro (who is a dud anyway) thinks its no big deal...I see him tomorrow, then will see another neuro on Tues.
I know nobody here can give med advice, I was just curious if you think c spine stenosis and compression could cause darting pains in the body, twitches and buzzing. The buzzing does feel like a cat purring! I sure hope this is the reason for it all- I have been cleared for so many other things thus far...

Also have mild DDD mid spine, which is perhaps why it feels "bruised" there...right where my bra strap hits.

  • Thank you all for your feedback, I welcome as much as I can get till I see the NS. I would think that protrusion on teh cord would cause nerve firings, etc..but my pains jump from a finger, to a toe, to either ankle--basically all over the place like a toothache and am hoping that others have had the same symptoms! I would think the buzzing feeling and twiching could be due to this!
