Hi I've DDD in L4 and L5 since Feb 2011. My condition has improved greatly through pool therapy. However now I've sciatica going down my left leg. My question my husband and I were thinking of starting a family. Will I have complications with regards to my back?

  • I have often wondered the same thing. The bottom line is you might but you might not. Siatica in particular is something that has been known to get worse or flare up during pregnancy even in women who don't normally have it. Extra stress on your back will likely exacerbate your symptoms but hormones do funny things to people they can even aleviate pain. I would talk to your doctor before getting pregnant about what things you should do to prepare, what you can do while pregnant to ease pain, and if it is a good idea. Not knowing the specifics about your condition I am not sure my post is relavent. I would talk to your doctor before trying to get pregnant, they would be able to give you information that will be improtant to you. Hope you have a great evening and I hope this helps!
