I have had one failed back surgery in 2007. I have 3 disc that Dr. wants to replace. Blue Cross denied me, even denied hybrid. Switched to Aetna as of Jan. 2012. Have you ever heard of Aetna covering 3 level adr? Or even the hybrid. I am desperate. I have suffered in pain for 15 yrs. I can't afford the 27,000 if insurance does not pay. And that is just for hybrid. I don't understand how they can say experimental and it has been approved in US for YEARS. Any advice is helpful. Has anyone ever appealed a denial and won? Thanks

  • I meet with my neurosurgeon tomorrow . He's given me 2 weeks to think about my options. 3 level fusion (L3-S1) or the hybrid. He works closely with Aetna who is also my insurer and he said they don't approve more than a single level ADR. Very disappointing to people like us. I absolutely do not want the 3 level fusion. The doc said he would work with Aetna to get the hybrid approved. I hope he can.....that's my only option!
