Subconcious wound protection

Hello everyone,I write to ask a question about the wound created by a debrement. The wound is on the back of my neck and started out 2"x1"X1" deep,it has healed halfway.I am in a skilled nursing facility. For much of the day and night the right side of my neck is very tight and inflamed. The staff (not the doctors) are sayng that I am subconsiously tightening my neck in an attempt to "protect my wound" (yes it hurts pretty good).I also have a wound vac on my wound.I ask if anyone else has heard of this subconcious "wound protection" that I speak of?Thanks
