Why no refills on percocet but yes on vicodin?

Everytime i pick my rx up at the PM center my rx says no refills. Also i have to pick it up! But when they had me on hydrocodone they were able to call it in and add refills if they wanted to. I thought a narcotic is a narcotic?? I can understand very heavy stuff though like morphine, dilaudid, etc.

  • Percocet is a schedule II drug requires a written Rx (it contains oxycodone). Hydrocodone is a scheduled III drug.
    See DEA Scheduled Drug List.
  • medication so the days of refills on vicoden are quickly coming to an end. There was a huge debate over moving hydrocodone ( vicoden, norco, etc) to a schedule II since it is one of the most abused opiates out there..

  • Just today I called my one refill that I get on the hydrocodone 7.5/500 and the pharmacy called back few minutes later said they have to call my doc Monday because they don't make them anymore!!!!

She said it would have to be 7.5/325 an has to be okayed by my doc!
  • but no more solid dosage forms with 500 mg of APAP. Too many people messing up there liver. In fact, IMO if acetaminophen (APAP) was just now in the drug pipe line, it would get a lot of scrutiny. Same with aspirin.
