newbie...with a couple questions

Hi there! I have recently (within the last 6 months) started having cronic neck pain. I have seen my family dr and a chiropractor and have had a few xrays done. They say I have spurs in my neck and degenerative disks. They want to send me for an MRI and to a neurosurgeon. Unforunately, I do not have health insurance until June. Since I have started having the neck pain... I find myself completely exhausted by the end of the day. I also find myself very sensitive to noise and have had several panic attacks because of it. The last week, I have even started getting motion sickness in the car. I drive 45 minutes to work and the last 2 days I worked I had to pull over to the side of the road and almost threw up. Does anyone else have these type of symptoms? I feel like I am going crazy. I am 42 years old and all of a sudden I feel like I am 80 with my energy level and how I feel. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!

  • I'm so sorry you are dealing with such horrible pain. I have cervical disc disease in my neck, which has caused a wide range of symptoms. Prior to my fusion, I would get nausea when I would get a migraine. And high pain levels can certainly cause panic attacks. In addition to breathing shallow due to pain (which can make panic attacks worse), pain can also create a lot of anxiety.

Good luck, and I hope you can get some answers and relief soon.

  • I wouldn't allow the chiropractor to perform any adjustments on your neck until you have seen a surgeon and he has okayed that. Until you know exactly what is causing your pain and symptoms, allowing manipulation of the spine can create more problems.
